1989 Merkur XR4Ti

The Motor is a 2.3l turbo, shared with the SVO Mustang & Thunderbird Turbo Coupe.

This car was built by Ford in Germany. It was sold at select Lincoln/Mercury dealerships from 1985 to 1989. The car was aimed squarely at the 3 Series BMW.

My car was bought by my Uncle in 1990 with 3000 kms on it. I told him years ago that I would be first in line if it was for sale. Early last spring I became its new owner with 120kms on the odometer.

Last fall I built the engine from the block up;new bearings, rods, pistons, rings, valves, fuel injectors, rad, coolant hoses, custom intake and exhaust.

The exterior paint is original, black and the interior is the uncommon Raven Cloth.

I have removed (yes, removed) the rear spoiler and wheelwell arches.

The car rides on 17x7.5 Panther 108 wheels, with Michelin Pilot Sport 215/40ZR17 front and 235/40ZR17 tires.

This past summer, the Canadian Consumers Association released a report stating that, on average, Ontario drivers pay 45% more for auto insurance than drivers in British Columbia.

I would say this number is out by at least $1,000.00.
